my rant

Today is something totally new and random…a little rant, if you will, and one that doesn’t even come with a picture.  Weird…yes, but this week has been a good week for me in regards to revelations with life and business and so I thought it would be so appropriate to tell y’all a story from about a month back of someone who inspired me and doesn’t even know it.

The story takes place at FCA camp in Abilene earlier this summer and is not very long, so bare with me.  We have been blessed with so many FCA “kids” in our lives.  So many who have impacted us more than they probably will ever realize.  One in particular is actually no longer a “kid” of ours but works in Houston and so Joe keeps in very good contact with him.  His name is Jimmy, and Jimmy took a week of his vacation time from work to come out to Abilene and work an FCA  camp as a huddle leader/counselor.

After a week of working he had made a tremendous impact on his campers, fellow huddle leaders and I know was he himself was also impacted by those around him.  What a blessing of a week for everyone involved.  But that is not the best part of the story…to me the part that impacted me the most was on the last day of camp, after all the campers had shipped off we had the usual closing “you guys did awesome” huddle leader meeting before sending them on their way.  Jimmy was talking with Joe and one of the other huddle leaders about the next week of camp for FCA in College Station and trying to convince this other huddle leader to work that week as well.  It turns out that this other huddle leader was not going to be able to do so because he needed to tend to his younger brother.
To which Joe replied “why doesn’t your little brother come to camp as a camper for the week and you can then work it”
The huddle leader expressed concerns of not being able to afford sending his brother as a camper, and at that point Jimmy immediately said “I’ll pay for him”.
WOW.  Just writting that I get a little joked up inside.  Not because Jimmy payed for this younger brother to go to camp, but because this younger brother ended up going to camp on Jimmy’s scholarship and accepted Jesus into his heart that week in College Station.
If that doesn’t give you chills I don’t know what will.  What an incredible impact Jimmy made in this kids life just by being willing to give.

I have been inspired.  What am I doing to further the kingdom with my blessings?  What can I do to make an impact, even if in just one person’s life?  Thank you Jimmy, for being a light, for giving your time and your resources.  You are such a blessing to mine and Joe’s life!

Ok, the rant is over…but, what did you think??
